ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Law enforcement stopped a driver at an Allsup’s in Merkel in connection to a morning bank robbery in Abilene.

The man was driving a vehicle that matched the description given by witnesses at the scene of the crime at Chase Bank on the 3200 block of Rebecca Lane.
This man was contacted at the gas station shortly after the robbery. He has not been arrested or charged with any crimes but is currently in Abilene being questioned by detectives.
KTAB and KRBC saw additional people being questioned by law enforcement at the Allsup’s. It’s unknown how or if they are connected to this crime.
Witnesses of the robbery said a man walked into Chase Bank around 9:35 a.m., set a gun on the counter, and demanded everything in the drawer before fleeing. Three customers were inside at the time and didn’t realize there was a robbery going on until a 2nd employee alerted them to the situation.
It’s unknown how much cash the suspect was able to steal.
