BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A 7-month baby from Brownwood has died after sustaining serious injuries as the result of child abuse.
The baby, who was rushed to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Ft. Worth after being found unresponsive at a Brownwood apartment on March 8, succumbed to his undisclosed injuries Wednesday.
“it is with great sadness that I report that the baby boy referenced in our initial investigation has passed away,“ the Brownwood Police Department states. “Our hearts go out to the family and all involved in this tragic event,“
Evan Williford, the mother’s boyfriend, was charged with 1st Degree Injury to a Child in connection to the infant’s injuries. Police say it’s currently unknown if his charges will be upgraded in light of this tragic death.
Williford was arrested at the scene of the crime for unrelated drug charges. The child abuse charge was added during an investigation headed by the Texas Rangers, Child Protective Services, and the Brownwood Police Department.
