Mother calls police after getting flashed at Abilene splash pad

Crime

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A mother called police after she was flashed by an unknown suspect at an Abilene splash pad Wednesday morning.

Amanda Martinez was watching her 2-year-old son play at Stevenson Splash Pad near E N 7th Street and Cockerell Drive when she noticed the suspect drive up, exit his vehicle, and begin urinating near the splash pad.

When he saw Martinez looking at him, she told KTAB he turned around and began inappropriately touching himself.

She then called police and he drove away before they arrived.

She described the suspect as a black male in his early 40s, who was wearing a white hat, white shirt, and white shorts with green pinstripes. He was seen leaving the scene in a red SUV.

Police say Martinez did the right thing  “by calling Dispatch and providing a description”.

Officers searched the area, but he has not been located.

This incident, though alarming, does not happen often. There were only 2 other indecent exposures reported near Abilene splash pads since January of 2017.
