Man killed in overnight shooting in west Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - One man was killed in an overnight shooting in west Abilene, according to Abilene police. 

The victim's identity has not yet been released. 

A suspect has not yet been caught. Police said they were working to gather more information.

The shooting happened around 12: 25 a.m., Saturday in the 5100 block of Fairmont St., police said.

According to police, two men were in an apartment when the victim heard a knock on the door and answered it. When the victim answered the door, he was immediately shot after closing the door.

He was shot in the upper torso. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

The other man was not injured. He said two suspects came to the door and ran away after the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
