ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A murder that led the arrest of 4 young suspects likely resulted from a robbery at an Abilene apartment complex early Saturday morning.
Chassidy Pimpton**, 21, Xavier Applin**, 17, Jonathan Williams, 17, and an unnamed 15-year-old were all taken into custody and charged with Murder in connection to the death of Chance Bonni, 23.
During a press conference following the arrests, police chief Stan Standridge revealed the suspects went to an apartment complex on the 5100 block of Fairmont Street just after midnight to confront multiple people, including Bonni.
One of the suspects (police have not disclosed who) fired a shotgun through a closed door during the confrontation, striking Bonni in the chest. He died after being transported to the hospital.
Pimpton’s arrest report states that during an interview with police, she admitted to conspiring to commit a robbery with the three other suspects, and during the commission of that robbery, “a gun was fired into the residence.”
Police have recovered the shotgun they beileve was used to kill Bonni from one of the suspects’ homes.
The exact motive of the robbery and murder has not been revealed, but police did say it could possibly involve drugs and confirmed drugs were found inside the residence.
All three identified suspects remain jailed on a $150,000 bond each.
