Registered sex offender on probation in Abilene arrested for child pornography

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A registered sex offender on probation in Abilene for child pornography involving children under the age of 7 has been arrested on additional child pornography charges.

Ryder Altman, 27, was arrested Thursday for Distribution of Child Pornography.

Altman's arrest report states, "he was arrested and convicted in 2017 where he was then registered as a sex offender and placed on probation for the same offense making this a first-degree felony."

During the 2017 investigation into Altman, detectives executed a search warrant and were able to recover several pornographic images and videos from Altman's phone, and a "large portion of the images are of infants, toddlers, and children that appear to be under the age of seven," according to court documents.

The documents state Altman was using torrent networks to view and distribute the files. He received his 10-year probation sentence for that crime in February of 2018 and was also ordered to spend a month at a detention center.

Altman is now being held in jail on a $100,000 bond.
