Abilene Man Charged in Apartment Complex Shooting


William Acree has been booked into the Taylor County Jail on two different charges in connection to a North Abilene shooting.

According to his booking record, he is charged with aggravated assault for the shooting and hindering apprehension and prosecution of a felon which is out of El Paso County.

His bonds total $225,000.

The suspect connected to a shooting at an Abilene apartment complex has been identified.

Court documents say William Acree, 32, was identified as the man who shot a woman at the Cantebury Apartment complex on S. Judge Ely Boulevard overnight on Wednesday.

Abilene Police Detectives are currently questioning Acree about the shooting, but he has not been arrested or charged in connection to the crime as of 4:00 p.m. Friday.

An incident report says the victim was shot three times – once in the arm and twice in the leg. She was transported to the hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

The motive behind the shooting is unclear, but police told KTAB and KRBC it could involve a domestic dispute.

Bullet casings from two buildings and slugs from a car were recoverd from the scene and booked into evidcen.
