Today the West Texas Fair and Rodeo opened its gates and Abilenians, eager to get an early start on having fun, rushed in to ride the rides, eat the food, and mingle with other fair goers.
The event boasts over 30 food vendors and over 30 rides and has brought in two new rides for people to enjoy.
To get a firsthand look at the rides and the fun KRBC sent one of its reporters, Jon McMichael out to ride some of the rides with Rochelle Johnson, the director of the Expo Center.
The event provides family fun and also serves as the Expo Center’s major fundraiser for the year. According to Expo Center staff, a good turn out at the fair means smooth sailing for the organization throughout the year. And smooth sailing means bringing in millions of dollars into the local economy through events the Expo Center hosts.
