Bass Player of “America” and Sweetwater Resident, David Dickey, Passes Away

David Dickey, bass player of the band “America” passed away early Saturday morning.

According to a Sweetwater Reporter article, Dickey and his wife have lived in Sweetwater since 1996.

Saturday, America posted a message about Dickey on their Facebook page:

“It’s with deep sadness that we must report the passing of our band brother, David Dickey, early this morning. David will always be a part of the America legacy and his contributions musically and personally will never be forgotten…he was one-of-a-kind and may he forever rest in peace. Our condolences go out to his beloved wife Maggie and his entire family. Our love always….from the America family.”

The band is responsible for hits like, “A Horse With No Name”, “Sister Golden Hair”, and “Ventura Highway”.
