BROWN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the man they believe was killed during a fire yesterday.

Clois Jackson, 63, is the presumed victim found deceased on a couch inside a home that caught fire on the 2800 block of Belle Plain Road.

A Sheriff’s Office Deputy found Jackson Saturday afternoon after he was dispatched to the address for a welfare check.

It’s unclear when the fatal fire occurred, but a fire investigator was able to determine it started in a heating/air conditioning unit.

Jackson’s cause of death has not been determined, though no foul play is suspected. His body has been sent to a medical examiner to determine the cause and to provide a positive identification.
