ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Jury selection is underway for the trial of an Abilene man accused of sexually assaulting a child for years.

Carlos Jimenez, 72, is scheduled to stand trial in Taylor County for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child.

Court documents say the Abilene Police Department began investigating allegations against Jimenez after an adult filed a report in 2014 when a child under the age of ten came forward and claimed Jimenez was touching her inappropriately.

This child told detectives Jimenez had been forcing her to engage in sexual activity for at least six years, according to the documents, which state the alleged abuse occurred from 2008 to 2014.

Jimenez was arrested in October of 2014 and remains in the Taylor County Jail on a $200,000 bond for the Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child charge.
