Cowboy’s Success Brings in Big Business for Abilene

News

Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman and all the great Dallas Cowboys teams before this season have never done what the 2016 version of the “Boys have done this year. 11 wins in a row.

Some local businesses tell KTAB the Cowboy’s success on the field is paying off, off the field.

“It get’s pretty busy around here,” said Rodney Abbott, a meat-cutter at Market Street. “It get’s pretty intense.”

The employees keep the shelves stocked with items perfect for a game-day spread.

“Steaks when it’s warm. Pot roast right now since it’s chilly,” added Abbott.

What about the Cowboy’s fans who decide not to stay home and watch their team?

“Chelsea’s, I come up here every Sunday and watch the ‘Boys,” stated Victor Urias who says been a Cowboy’s fan for quite some time.

The staff at the local pub say on average 70 people show up on Cowboy’s game days.

“It’s so much more fun to go watch a game and there’s so many more people around you that enjoy the same thing as you,” said Catherine Heath, the manager for Chelsea Street Pub. “They all want to see the Cowboy’s win.”

The ‘Boys have done just that, win. Helping boost the economy here in the Key City.
