Driver Loses Control on Wet Roads, Overturns on I-20 in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Police say wet roads contributed to an SUV overturning on Interstate 20 in Abilene Friday morning.

The accident happened just before 10:30 a.m. when the driver of a vehicle that was traveling east down I-20 encountered a slippery section of road near mile marker 291 and lost control of his vehilce, causing it to veer of the highway, hit the ditch, then flip onto its roof, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. Police say he received a citiation for failing to control his speed.

A passenger involved in the accident was unharmed.

This incident was one of several wrecks emergency crews responded to Friday morning.

The Abilene Police Department says they received calls about thirteen wrecks between the hours of midnight to 9:00 a.m., and nine of those wrecks occurred during morning commutes between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
