Dyess Family Receives Surprise After Return from Deployment

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) – After returning from deployment, a Dyess airman and his family received a surprise from several local businesses.

Last Thursday, KTAB brought you the sweet story of a surprise homecoming for an airman and his family. Cody Dietz had been deployed for more than 200 days so when he surprised his daughter Makenah, she was moved to tears.

During her interview, Makenah mentioned the first thing she’d like to do is go to the new lunar golf course in the mall.

After seeing the heartwarming story, the Mall of Abilene chose to reach out to KTAB to help surprise the family with a round of golf.

“It was just really rewarding and just putting the icing on the cake,” said Michelle Parker with the Mall of Abilene. “Making them just a little bit happier and their smiles just a little bit bigger.”

The family was awarded four free tickets for a round of golf.

“It’s pretty amazing for the community to do things like this for us military,” added Cody Dietz, “I’m just happy because Makenah got to do this because it’s really what she wanted to do.”

Makenah and her dad played several rounds of golf and ended the day with some family fun and pizza.
