EASTLAND COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A fugitive who’s been on the run since escaping house arrest in Eastland County in September has been arrested and sentenced to 99 years in prison.

Vance Gwinn, 58, was caught in or near Laredo, Texas, on May 12, 2017. He received the 99-year prison sentence in Eastland County on Wednesday after pleading guilty to Assault, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Bail Jumping.

Gwinn escaped from house arrest after removing his ankle monitor in September of 2016. He was considered “armed and dangerous” at the time of his disappearance.

Gwinn had pleaded guilty the assault and meth charges earlier that week and was allowed to await his sentencing hearing at home in order to take care of a sick child. He ran before that hearing took place.
