BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A Brownwood man busted by the Abilene Police Department for prostitution and child sex crime charges has been indicted.
A Taylor County Grand Jury indicted Michael Kellum, 33, for Promotion of Prostitution and Online Solicitation of a Minor Thursday afternoon in connection to an incident that happened in November of 2016.
Court documents say Kellum was busted when an Abilene Police Officer posing as a 14-year-old answered Kellum’s Craigslist ad that asked if “any ladies could use an extra $50”.
The undercover officer told Kellum he was a 14-year-old girl when he responded to the ad, and Kellum was willing to pay $50 in exchange for a sex act from the teen, according to the documents, which say Kellum later showed up the place he believed was the teen’s house with a $50 bill in his shoe.
Kellum was arrested on site and “confessed to knowing what he did was wrong and that he will not do it again,” the documents claim.
Kellum was released from the Taylor County Jail the same day as his arrest after posting bonds totaling $60,000.
