ACU men’s basketball team returns with heads held high

Local News

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Although the Abilene Christian University men’s basketball team was defeated Thursday night by the Kentucky Wildcats, the team was still in high spirits from the experience.

The team landed Friday at Abilene Aero after a plane ride back to the Key City from Jacksonville, Florida, then found a warm welcome when they arrived back on campus.

Facing off against the two seed Kentucky Wildcats was a big accomplishment on its own, and after only two years of eligibility, that makes things a little more impressive still.

So while ACU may not have come away with the win, the team, the students, and the fans don’t seem to mind as everyone welcomed their Wildcats back home.

“I’m proud of everybody on the roster, proud of the staff, everybody who was part of the journey. Everybody stepped up, everybody played a role in this, so I’m feeling great for everyone right now.” Senior Jaren Lewis said.

Only time will tell whether ACU can capture the same magic next March.
