ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene daycare is stepping up to help families in need of immediate childcare after another local daycare was shut down by the state.
All God's Children (AGC) is in the process of expanding to accommodate some of the families who had children at the Wylie Baptist Child Development Center, which was shut down by the state for more than 20 violations.
AGC is adding four new classrooms to make room for more children, and the director says they hope to care for 40-60 more children and to make the daycare available for those families by next week.
"I am very thankful that we have a space to put these kids, and be able to help these families that are desperately searching for child care," AGC Director Shelley Smith says.
The daycare center is in the process of hiring more teachers to help with the increase in children.
