ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) have released the name of a woman who died in a single-car accident late Wednesday afternoon nearly seven miles southeast of Abilene.

DPS says 69-year-old Margaret Ann Davis of Abilene was traveling north on State Highway 36 around 4:30 p.m. when she drove off the east side of the roadway.

Davis then turned her 2000 Buick Century back toward the road and went into a side skid, striking a guardrail, according to a preliminary crash report.

She was not wearing a seat belt.

DPS says the crash is still under investigation.
