SWEETWATER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A 6-month-old boxer has been reunited with his family after escaping during a wreck on I-20 in Sweetwater early Friday morning.

Apollo was traveling with his owner Chase Zurbriggen en route to Dallas when they crashed around exit 259.

Family, friends, and even strangers searched for Apollo for hours – in daylight and darkness – eventually finding the pup in a cotton field unharmed.

In a Facebook post, Zurbriggen says, “Thank you to everyone and anyone that sent prayers our way! And to all of you who worked to make this all possible! My family and I are eternally grateful. I never thought so many people would selflessly step up to find my little pup!”

Zurbriggen told KTAB and KRBC Apollo is so special to him because he was a gift from his parents when his grandfather died.
