MERKEL, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A vacant home was destroyed by a fire in Merkel early Tuesday morning.
Crews with the Merkel Volunteer Fire Department, Tye Volunteer Fire Department, and View Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the fire on the 400 block of Cherry Street around 5:30 a.m.
Cherry Street was closed at S 4th Street and S 5th Street while crews were working to contain the flames. S 4th Street was shutdown at Rose Street as well.
No injuries were reported, and the exact cause of the fire is currently unknown.
