ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Hendrick Children’s Hospital made a big announcement Friday morning.
The hospital is teaming up with the San Diego Zoo Kids Channel, which has now been added to all TV programming in the hospital.
The channel showcases animal stories across the globe, and even adds a few stories filmed at the Abilene Zoo.
The children’s program focuses on lifting kids’ spirits while learning about wildlife.
The representative of the San Diego Zoo says one patient continued to fight for her life thanks to the program.
“She was laughing. She was making animal vocalizations, and then she started memorizing the content on the channel and started testing her caregivers on their animal knowledge,” says Debra Erickson, Marketing Coordinator for San Diego Global.
The San Diego Zoo Kids Channel is now broadcast in more than 200 hospitals around the world.
