ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - High winds destroyed a TxDOT radio tower in Abilene overnight.
It's unknown how strong the winds were, but the tower, which once stood hundreds of feet tall on TxDOT's property off N. Clack Street, is now bent in half and curled under.
A TxDOT representative told KTAB and KRBC they have to use backup for their radios and won't get as long of a range until the tower is repaired.
Other Big Country towns saw heavy damage as well, including Zephyr, which has reports of damaged homes, businesses, and downed powerlines and trees.
BigCountryHomepage is keeping up with the aftermath of severe storms across the area. Anyone with damage to report is encouraged to email pictures and information (including location) to firstname.lastname@example.org
