Large police presence at Dyess gate related to possible domestic violence allegations

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Several law enforcement agencies are on scene across from the Tye gate at Dyess Air Force Base. 

An official on scene said there is no danger to the public.

The incident is NOT related to the Air Force base, officials confirmed.

No other information was immediately released. The Sheriff’s Office said it may release a statement later in the afternoon.

Agencies on scene include: Tye police, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, DPS and Texas Parks and Wildlife. 

UPDATE: The Abilene Police Department (APD) issued a statement Wednesday evening detailing the presence was originally in relation to possible allegations of domestic violence. 

One male suspect was arrested by the Tye Police Department for unrelated charges, according to APD. During the arrest, the suspect made statements indicating possible physical violence between himself and a female.

Authorities then attempted to locate the woman in the area described by the man, according to APD. The search yielded no results. A subsequent investigation led to a Las Vegas, Nevada address where the woman was located unharmed. 

No official allegations of domestic violence have been made, according to APD.
