Mom arrested after missing Haskell girl found living in mountains near Reno

HASKELL, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A 9-year-old from Haskell was found safe in some mountains near Reno, Nevada two weeks after she was reported missing. 

Authorities found Urijah Livingston with her mother, Desiree Ward, around 10:00 p.m. Monday night, according to the Haskell Police Department.

Ward, who does not have custody of Urijah, was arrested and charged with Interference with Child
Custody. She didn’t return Urijah to her custodial parent as planned by July 22. 

Instead, a press release states investigators learned Urijah, “may be with her mother living at a homeless camp along the river in Sparks [Nevada].”

There was also, “concern for the child’s welfare and well-being in her mother’s care and the conditions she has been exposed to,” according to the press release.
