Old planes removed from Abilene Regional Airport

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Old airplanes that have defined the southeast Abilene landscape for at least the past decade have been removed.

American Airlines had a fleet of retired American Eagle aircraft sitting in a field at the Abilene Regional Airport since 2008, but there may have been other planes on the property beforehand.

The retired planes have now been sold, according to an American Airlines spokesperson. The final aircraft was removed from the property off Hwy 36 Wednesday morning.

There are currently no plans to put additional planes on the lot. The American Airlines spokesperson says no aircraft is scheduled for retirement in the near future.
