ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Abilene parents who had children at Wylie Baptist Child Development Center are opening up about incidents where they say their children were harmed there.
One woman claims a substitute teacher left marks on her 20-month-old son’s arm, while another father says the same was done to his 19-month-old son.
“My son, along with one other child let go of that lead rope and this teacher jerked him by his arm and put him back in line,” the mother says. “I was never contacted by the director, no other teacher contacted me, I didn’t know any of this, and this happened last Monday and I did not find out until Friday.”
The father says not only did the same thing happen to his son, but that a teacher told him about it, and even warned him of the possibility that no other employee at the daycare would mention it.
He says when he demanded to see video of the incident with his son, the director of the daycare center showed him a video of a child being jerked by the arm by a teacher while walking in the hallway, telling him it wasn’t his child.
The father says after that, a teacher told him the incident with his son actually happened in a classroom, and not in the hallway.
“The teacher that actually saw it, she said, ‘No. This did not happen in the hallway, this was your son, it happened in the classroom, she showed you the wrong video,'” he says. “She got so mad that they lied to my face about it, that she called up the State.”
The mother is filing criminal charges against the subtitute teacher, and says she pulled her 20-month-old out of the childcare facility last Friday.
