ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – Two elementary school students were injured after being hit by a car Friday morning in Odessa.

Odessa Police officials say around 7:43 a.m. officers were called to Dowling Elementary, 1510 E. 17th Street, about the crash.

While investigating, officers learned that a 7-year-old boy and a 11-year-old girl were struck by a vehicle while crossing the road in a crosswalk, according to a release from police.

Both were taken to Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the vehicle has been cited for failure to yield the right of way at a crosswalk.
