NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KETK) - Two women were killed in an early morning house fire in Nacogdoches, according to to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's office. A 14-year-old child is in critical condition as well.
Their identities are being withheld at this time.
The fire occured on Andy Lane, just after 6 a.m. Wednesday morning. Officers attempted CPR on one victim but was declared dead at the scene. The second victim died on her way to the hospital.
The child was airlifted to a burn center in Dallas.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Sheriff's office and the State Fire Marshall. A statement by the Nacogdoches Sheriff's office did say that it appeared the fire started on the front porch.
Investigators say there were heat lamps set up on the porch for animals.
