MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas (KXAN/KMID) – A 3-year-old girl who was injured in a home explosion in Midland County Thursday died over the weekend.

KMID reports Delaye Tercero died on Saturday afternoon at University Medical Center in Lubbock. Three of her family members, two adults and a 2-year-old, are still in critical condition.

The home exploded around 10 a.m. Thursday. At the scene, deputies found a woman and two small children with severe burns. A short time later, a man was also taken to the hospital.

“Evidently a pocket of gas built up underneath the mobile home and got into the mobile home,” says Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter. “It exploded causing the double-wide mobile home to be completely disintegrated.”

Painter says the explosion was so powerful that residents up to 15 miles away felt the blast.
