LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) – Crews worked Monday morning to clean up after nine cars derailed in Union Pacific’s Longview yard, according to a spokeswoman with Union Pacific.

According to The Longview News Journal, the cars could be seen early Monday on their sides between Second and Third streets on railroad tracks between Methvin and Cotton Streets. The derailment did not cause any road blockage.

Kristen South, senior director for corporate communications and media relations, said the derailment happened at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday and that a locomotive also derailed “upright,” which means the wheels came off the track but the car did not tip over.

There was no spill in the derailment and no one was injured, South said. The cause remains under investigation.
