“They’ll be a lot of gasoline, meals, lodging and things along those lines. That’s the most significant impact. Any improvement on the county tax base would be an improvement. That’s part of that negotiation that we will have and we need to grow our tax base anybody else,” said Dale Spurgin, Jones County Judge.
Coronal Energy negotiating with tax entities like Anson ISD, Jones County and the Anson Hospital about tax abatements.
“Each phase brings a specific dollar amount to Anson ISD and over the ten year span it has potential to bring somewhere between six and eight million dollars to Anson ISD,” said Jay Baccus, Superintendent for Anson ISD
That money coming from lease agreements with private property owners for about six thousand acres north of Anson.
“They are going to offer them some payment which would be that land owners decision if that will be beneficial for them as well,” said Spurgin.
Coronal Energy, interested in this location because of the high voltage transmission lines that were built several year ago.
“We have three or four of those crossing Jones County and so it’s easy access to plug into that network,” said Spurgin.
They hope to start construction for the three year project in 2019.
