ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Abilene Chamber of Commerce has announced it is now an accredited Chamber of Commerce.

The Abilene chamber’s accreditation was recognized by the U.S. Chamber Accreditation Program, which facilitates continuing excellence in the chamber industry and fosters pro-business environments.

The process for application is an arduous one, requiring thorough examinations of all chamber practices, policies, programs and procedures.

“Accreditation honors a chamber’s work to foster a healthy business climate that enhances the quality of life for its members and its region,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber vice president of Federation Relations and Institute for Organization Management.

The U.S. Chamber Accreditation Program is the only program to define chamber planning excellence and recognize chambers for contributions leading to positive change in their communities.

In the United States there are approximately 7,000 chambers, with only 200 carrying the prestigious distinction of accreditation.
