ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – It’s time to be thinking about your favorite local nonprofit organization, because Abilene Gives is about three weeks away.
The Abilene Gives event is a 24-hour online fundraiser that gives donors an opportunity to donate to their nonprofit of choice here in the Abilene community.
The event is only a few years old, but has been very successful so far. This is the first year that many of the nonprofits are losing a big amount of money after the sunsetting of the Dodge Jones Foundation.
“Part of why we exist is to serve those nonprofits, give them the tools they need to keep supporting and serving Abilene, and so we feel like we are doing this through Abilene Gives,” Community Foundation of Abilene’s Megan Dobbs says.
The Community Foundation of Abilene says that the goal for this year is to raise a total of $600,000 for the many nonprofits in the Abilene community.
The event takes place May 7.
