ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Katherine Bisson has been announced as the new Executive Director of Abilene Hope Haven, according to an Abilene Hope Haven press release.
Bisson has served with Hope Haven for the past year, most recently in a management position as Director of Housing Programs, according to the release.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors of Abilene Hope Haven, I want to congratulate Katherine Bisson on her move to the role of Executive Director.” Board Chair Ben Grant said in the release. “Ms. Bisson’s passion for achieving our mission to inspire hope in our neighbors experiencing homelessness is strong and will be an amazing asset to our organization.”
Bisson’s appointment comes after former executive director John Cooper stepped down from the position in March to pursue mission work in Croatia.
“I am looking forward to being the Executive Director of Abilene Hope Haven, because it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to continue to strive to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in Abilene,” Bisson said in the release. “I am excited about facilitating growth and improving performance among our programs.
Bisson will be formally introduced as executive director at a meet-and-greet event at the Community Foundation of Abilene on Thursday, June 14 starting at 4:30 p.m. She will assume full duties starting July 2.
