ABILENE, TX (KTAB) – Abilene Public Library locations are ready to host fans of comic books, movies and video games during its annual Lib-Con starting Thursday, April 25.
This is the sixth year for the convention which is expected to bring thousands together, last year’s event brought in about 2,000 attendees.
“We’ve got great stuff happening all three days – an escape room, crafts, even a Fortnite dance party,” said Ellene Cudd, children’s librarian.
The free event is open to the public and serves as a means of bringing together residents with similar interests.
“Lib-con is a chance for people really to connect and show a part of themselves they might not get to let out everyday,” says Amanda Sasser, a children’s library assistant.
The chance to dress up as one’s favorite character and meet others that like to do the same has not always been available to those in the Key City.
“When we first started this there was nothing nothing even close or similar to this in Abilene – nothing even really close within a two hours drive of Abilene,” said Sasser.
But now, everyone from superhero fans to Dungeon Masters have the chance to talk about their passions.
The convention runs April 25-27 at different Abilene library locations.
Day 1 (Thursday): 1326 N. Mockingbird Lane
Day 2 (Friday): 4310 Buffalo Gap Road inside the Mall of Abilene
Day 3 (Saturday): 202 Cedar Street
A full schedule of events can be found on the City of Abilene website.
