BRECKENRIDGE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – An Abilene man caught a record-breaking catfish in Breckenridge on Wednesday.

David Bradshaw, Jr. caught a 55.30 pound Blue Catfish at Hubbard Creek Reservoir using a rod and reel, according to Lorie Rohloff, owner of Brush Creek Bait.

Rohloff told KTAB and KRBC Bradshaw took his fish to her shop since they are registered with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as part of their angler recognition program.

Bradshaw will receive a certificate from the TPWD once his record-breaking catch is certified, according to Rohloff.

TPWD online records show that the previous record for a flat mouth catfish caught by rod and reel in Hubbard Creek Reservoir weighed 46.40 pounds and was 48.50 inches long. It was caught by Glenn Todd in March of 2012.
