ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Abilene Police arrested two people on multiple fraud, burglary, and forgery charges Wednesday.

According to a news release, 27-year-old Chelsea Gonzales and her 33-year-old boyfriend Daniel Cheek, were arrested Wednesday after a joint investigation with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Police say Cheek was stopped in the 2300 block of Danville just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, and after a K-9 officer alerted on his vehicle, police found methamphetamine, forged checks and stolen pieces of identifying information.

Officers then executed a search warrant on his motel room on E. Overland Trail, where they found Gonzales, who was found to be in possession of stolen mail, 20 stolen identities, and methamphetamine, according to the news release.

Further investigation led police to execute a search warrant on a vehicle found in the alley of the 800 block of Judge Ely as well as three storage units, where authorities “recovered numerous firearms, vehicles, and other property stolen from various storage units in Abilene and other cities across Texas,” the release states.

Police say more than 100 pieces of identifying information belonging to unassuming citizens were also recovered.
