Abilene Police arrest 4 in connection to drive-by shootings

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Detectives with the Abilene Police Department have arrested four suspects on charges ranging from Deadly Conduct, Tampering with Evidence and drug charges in connection to recent drive-by shootings.

Sierra Cortez-Bernal, 22, 19-year-old Ananda Leal, 18-year-old Antonio Hagans, and 21-year-old Antonio Rogers were taken into custody on Wednesday.

Abilene Police released the following information Wednesday evening:

At 12:16 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, Police Dispatch received several calls of shots fired in the 800 Block of Carver Street. Police arrived and investigated and found several shell casings in the street. A home located in the area was struck several times. No injuries were reported. At 1:55 a.m. on the same date, Police Dispatch received several calls from homeowners in the 5100 Block of Fairmont St., which is the Stonegate Apartment complex. Callers reported hearing several gunshots. Police arrived to find shell casings from different caliber weapons. The suspects once again fled the scene.

The subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of the four suspects for their involvement in the drive-by shootings. Sierra Cortez Bernal is charged with Class B Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Third Degree Felony Deadly Conduct. Ananda Leal is charged with Third Degree Felony Deadly Conduct. Antonio Hagans is charged with Third Degree Deadly Conduct. Antonio Rogers is charged with Class B Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Third Degree Felony Tampering with Evidence and Third Degree Felony Deadly Conduct. Weapons were recovered. This investigation continues and more arrests are forthcoming.
