ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A California man has been arrested for online solicitation of a minor in Abilene.

According to a social media post by the Abilene Police Department, detectives with the Cyber Crimes Unit arrested 24-year-old Alexander Mongenel after he began to “sexually target” a young girl through an online video game.

Police say an investigation revealed electronic data to support the allegations, and after interviewing Mongenel, an arrest warrant was issued in late April 2019.

Mongenel was contacted at his home and taken into custody by the Fontana Police Department in California at the request of Abilene Police.

He remains in the San Bernardino County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to Texas, according to police.
