ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A restaurant and bar that served customers in south Abilene for nearly fifteen years is closing its doors for good.

Abilene Seafood Tavern, formerly located on the 1800 block of S. Clack Street, confirmed the closing via a Facebook post early Monday morning, but did not divulge the reason behind their decision.

The post reads in part, “farewell Tavern….we loved every single one of you! You will not be forgotten and you will remain in our hearts forever. . . THANK YOU for so many great years together!”

Abilene Seafood Tavern’s door now says “closed” and a For Sale/For Lease sign has been posted in front of the building.

A biography on Abilene Seafood Tavern’s website describes the history of the restaurant, saying, “in 2003 Retired Lt. Colonel William Bedford bought an old Steak and Ale building with the idea of creating an amazing dinning and entertainment experience for our local community.”
