Abilene’s largest book sale begins tomorrow

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) – It’s time again for the much anticipated Friends of the Abilene Public Library Book Sale at the Abilene Convention Center.

Library Friends members get first dibs at the wide variety of goodies during a preview sale on Thursday, June 14th from 5:00-8:00 PM. If you are not a member of the Library Friends memberships will be available tomorrow at the door starting at $15.00, and for the entire family for $25.00. On Friday, June 15th the doors open to the general public at 10:00 AM and lasting until 7:00 PM. Admission to the 29th annual book sale is free to the general public.

Prices on most general sale items, including hardbound books, will be $2.00, while most paperbacks will be $1.00 each. Children’s books are sold by the inch, for $2.00. 

On Sunday, the famous “Bag-o-Books” sale begins at 1:00 PM and lasting until 4:00 PM. You get to fill up an entire bag of books of your choice for only $6.00. Cash, checks, and credit/debit cards will be accepted for purchases, with proper picture ID. The Friends will be able to accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Diner’s Club. 

A featured area of the sale is the ‘Antiques and Uniques’ sections. Antiques and Uniques contain rare, hard-to-find and collectible books. It also includes special interest fiction and non-fiction titles. Proceeds from the sale fund library materials, equipment, activities and staff training opportunities.
