Abrupt closing of daycare center leaves parents scrambling

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – More than 60 parents are left scrambling to find a place to take their children after an Abilene daycare abruptly shut down.

The former Child Care Director of Mosaic Church says she put in her two weeks notice
after personal differences with her boss, thinking the daycare would remain open after she left, but that wasn’t the case.

Parents received an email friday from the church saying they would be closing their doors, and now parents are hustling to find childcare.

“A lot people have full time jobs and don’t have a parent or a sister to fall back on,” parent Ashley England says. “I think the worst part of it is just like, this is what your kids have gotten used to, this is their daily routine, these are the people they’re used to and then all of a sudden with no word it was gone.”

No word on why the daycare officially closed.

In the meantime, the former director has rented out Abilene Jump Zone for the week and is providing babysitting for those parents who have to work full time until they can find something more permanent.
