ALBANY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Albany Volunteer Fire Department extinguished a dangerous fire over the weekend after the top blew off a tank battery.
According to a post on the Albany VFD Facebook page, firefighters responded to a call of a tank battery fire just south of town around 6 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, they found a 210 barrel tank battery fully involved, the top having been blown 75 feet away, according to the post.
Firefighters used foam to cool and extinguish the fire before a second tank became fully involved.
According to the post, the fire department ran out of foam just after extinguishing the flames.
Albany VFD says they believe the fire was started by lightning from an overnight storm.
