ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with capital murder in the death of the woman’s 1-year-old son.
Keohse Holman, 29, of Huntington was arrested Thursday and has been charged with capital murder of a child under six years of age.
Angel Nunez, 26, of Lufkin had been arrested May 1 on a charge of injury to a child. A charge of capital murder of a child under six years of age was filed against him today.
The two were charged in the death of Holman’s 1-year-old son Legend Adams.
Legend was taken by ambulance to a Lufkin hospital on April 25. He was not breathing and later died.
The child had been previously treated at Texas Children’s Hospital for a broken arm and severe sinus infection. In the weeks that followed, sores appeared on his body that Holman claimed were a result of an Impetigo infection.
According to a release from the Lufkin Police Department, Legend’s autopsy ruled his cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the abdomen consistent with continuous child abuse. His injuries included lacerations to the liver, pancreas and stomach with various stages of healing noted.
The medical examiner also concluded that the marks on Legend’s body that Holman claimed to be Impetigo appeared to be consistent with cigarette or cigar burns.
Holman and Nunez are being held without bond in the Angelina County Jail.
