MASSENA, NY (KXAN) — The makers of DG™/health NATURALS baby Cough Syrup + Mucus are recalling the medicine because of potential bacterial contamination.
The product is distributed nationwide in Dollar General retail stores and has the potential to put children at risk for two forms of gastrointestinal illness.
Some symptoms include vomiting or diarrhea. Infants, young children and others with weak immune systems are the most at risk if exposed.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the potential for contamination was noted after audit testing revealed the presence of Bacillus cereus and Bacillus circulans in some bottles.
The affected product comes in 2-fluid ounce bottles in a carton marked with lot KL180157 and an expiration date of 11/20 on the bottom. The back of the bottle has UPC Code 8 54954 00250 0 on the label.
