Bountiful baskets are back!

Main News

Abilene, Texas (KRBC) – Bountiful Baskets has been out from Abilene for about two years.

“My wife sent me a text and she was like, it was all capitals and was like Bountiful baskets is back,” said Craig Morrison, costumer.

They are sold every week and Abilene has two different locations, North 2nd and Kirkwood and Reagan Elementary School, that sell 96 baskets each. Both fruits and vegetables come in the baskets.

“We see a lot of the same people, from week to week and so you get to know people from across Abilene that you other wise might not have,” said Amelia Carnagey, a volunteer.

You can order the basket online on Monday at noon.

“Keep your receipt and then on Saturday morning we come, we unload the truck, we are all volunteer base, nobody gets paid, that is why the cost is cheaper, nobody gets paid for this. So we unload the boxes and we divvy up in the different baskets and then people come,” said Debbie Flatt, a volunteer.

The base price is $18, plus shipping and handling but add ons are welcome.

“If you want specific fruits and vegetables you can get those as well,” said Morrison.

The items in the baskets are always changing, making people get creative in the kitchen.

“The surprise you get because you can get the normal baskets but it is not always the same thing every time. It is nice to change things up and everything like that. Then you are like OK what am I going to make and then you look in the basket and OK I have some ideas now,” said Morrison.

Both locations in Abilene sold out on Monday.

“It is a surprise every week, we have no idea what we are getting until we get here, so it kind of like Christmas every morning, every Saturday morning,” said Flatt.
