SACRAMENTO (KOVR) – It had been 102 days since the campfire forced the Ritchies to flee their home in Northern California.
“We had like five minutes to get out of the house,” says Paul Ritchie, Dexter’s owner.
When they rounded up their beloved cats, they couldn’t find Dexter, and were forced to leave him behind, sure they’d never see him again.
But months later, Dexter was miraculously found by an animal rescue group in the burn zone.
Today Dexter is hopping on a flight to Missouri where the Ritchies relocated, and will be reunited with his family.
“It’s gonna be unbelievable. I think I’m gonna just stand there and cry and want to hug him,” Sharon Ritchie said.
