EARLY, Texas (KRBC) – The City of Early is welcoming people in now that their Visitors and Events Center is complete.

“The foot traffic is starting to come in. We have had people from Georgia, Abilene, Dallas, Weatherford,” said Denise Hudson, Tourism Director, City of Early.

Leland Acker, a local pastor, is taking advantage of the new building for their Easter service.

“How easy is it to tell people how to get here, giving directions is simple, parking is excusable, being able to get people in an out of the facility is easy and it’s just a big beautiful facility,” said Acker.

The faculty are drawing people in and Hudson says they are showing everyone what they have to offer.

“We have a great winery, we have the Lyric Theater, we have a beautiful lake that people come from all over and there are all kinds of events that go on here,” said Hudson.

Even with the change, they are still wanting to grow. This building is making that happen, trying to attract small conventions.

“We are going to try to pursue those two to bring people in to the City of Early to stay in hotels, to eat, to shop, to be an economic impact,” said Hudson.

Early having a leg up because of their location.

“We are 39 miles from the geographic center of Texas. We cross road with 183, 67, 84 and 377. The intersection there by the mall in Early, a lot of people realize that but it has over 26,000 cars a day that go through that intersection,” said Hudson.

They say they already have 16 events set up for the next couple of months.
