ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) – The Development Corporation of Abilene held a joint meeting with the City Council to determine the future of the Zoltek facility in Five Points Business Park. The sale price for that industrial campus is five million dollars. The DCOA’s purchase could open the doors to more new business.
“This solves a big problem for us, which is a lack of available industrial space in Abilene”, says DCOA’s Kent Sharp. “We get several calls every year from major industries and manufacturing processes that want to know if we have available space.”
Some prospective additions to the Abilene business community need to build from the ground up, but for others, a turn-key ready building can be an attractive option.
Chamber of Commerce president Doug Peters explains, “When you have a company that’s fast tracking, they need to get into a manufacturing environment. Having ready product is a very significant competitive advantage.”
No businesses are actively seeking out the area at the moment, but officials say that the building could see new tenants within a year, if the purchase and cleanup is on schedule.
